Cloth diapering in 2022
Not a lot has changed since I began my cloth diapering journey back in 2018...
(although... my research started in 2017...) but heres what I've learned.
Cloth diapers are easiest when baby is young...
Yup, you heard me right... before baby starts solids are my favorite cloth diapering seasons.
True bliss, newborn poop all the way up until they begin solids is water soluble!
There is no rinsing, just one swift throw to the diaper pale and the washer can deal with the rest!
You don't need as many as you think...
When I began, I was a fresh faced 20 year old newly married to a farm boy....
We didn't really have much to invest in diapers if you know what I mean...
BUT!
What we had was $40 to get 6 cheap diapers that I used until they fell apart!
Now, would I have preferred a large stash of name brand, organic wool diapers I desperately lusted after...
yes. LOL
But in the end all I needed was 6 soft bum holders for my perfect bundle of joy.
Wash Routine is the Most Important Part...
Without a good wash routine... to put it plainly... you're cooked.
I've tried a number of different wash routines over the years and have finally settled on one that works best for me. (and baby)
You will get a number of different opinions when it comes to your wash routine...
Ignore them. LOL!
Everyone thinks they are right... and you know what.
They are, for them and their family...
A few things to consider...
Your water, soft or hard?
Your washing machene, does it have an agrivator?
How you answer those two questions is how you'll figure out which wash routine works for you!
I truly believe it's that simple!
Having the perfect stash and all the special bags and attachments can come slowly.
If you want to invest upfront that's up to you and hey! who am I to tell you differently!
But if you're someone who can't quite invest that much money upfront I'll say this in closing...
That sweet little baby of yours will be in diapers for a minimum of two years.... That's a long time to slowly accumulate what you deem necessary to have a successful cloth diapering carrier!
